Picking the "Most real sounding" EP is really hard to me because I never heard Rhodes or Wurlitzer in real life. I have "Neo-Soul Keys 5x Ultimate for UVI", AAS - "Lounge Lizard EP-4", Scarbee's "Vintage keys" as a part of the "Komplete 10 Ultimate" and Arturia - "Analog Lab 3". I think that will be the smarter way to go around it.Thanks, simon.billington great point.Īlso, thanks for all who shared their thoughts. I think that will be the smarter way to go around it. Armed with this you can narrow it down to a few choices and audition them for yourself and make up your own mind. What you simply want to know is, “what are the options” or “what’s everyone using and what do they find it good for”. If the can’t sound alike, then how are plugins expected to?!? You can’t even ask what is more authentic, because these instruments don’t sound identical themselves. This is because there is no such this as “best”, only what’s best for a particular person.

As you see, ask a question like that and you’ll get a dozen different responses. I don’t think the question to be asking is “what is the best” because best is subjective. There is reason to use any of these instruments. It is only the Mark II at this stage, but hopefully more modes will come.

Even so, it’s quick to dial in tone and has a few unique features to help make it more expressive or more abstract and full of character, which is where it overlaps with these more detailed libraries. It’s not quite as quick to get started on the account of its sample set, but quicker than others. The Waves Electric 88 is somewhere in the middle ground of all these. The Soniccouture ep oozes with lots of character though and I’d consider using it in other instances, if I owned it.

The same thing can be said for the Scarbee model. You can easily use it to replace one of the above as you progress further into production nd realise you need more expressiveness in your tone. That’s one I would consider using for quality and the playability of things. I don’t have Neo Soul, it damn it sounds great and it’s detailed. Logic’s Vintage EP is still and old fav for me and you can get started almost just as quickly as the XLN. It’s really good for getting started quickly, which can be very important in the flow of things. I actually like the XLN Mark One because it’s fast to load and get into and has some basic patches and macros for getting to your sound quick.
